Rockstar Energy Drink vs AMP Energy: Twitter Presence

Similar to Facebook, both brands seem to follow the same trends on Twitter.

Rockstar Energy’s Twitter activity is quite frequent. Similar to their activity on Facebook, Rockstar Energy Tweets every day, one or two times a day. The content consist of images and videos, of the different sponsorship Rockstar is involved with, as well as Rockstar Models. The Social Media 50/50 rule is not used by Rockstar. They do not tweet about their products, their focus is on the sponsorship.

Most Recent Popular Tweet:

  • 45 Re-Tweets

Based off the last 25 tweets, the one of Off-Road Racer Tanner Foust was the most popular, receiving 232 Likes, and 45 Re-Tweets. The reason why these tweets we popular amongst Rockstar Energy’s followers, is because as mentioned before, Rockstar Energy’s target market is predominantly males. From the sports that are sponsored to the female models, Rockstar Energy is catering to them.

When looking at AMP Energy’s activity on twitter, I was shocked to see lack of tweets from the brand. In 2016 alone, AMP Energy has only tweeted four times, the last tweet being on March 3, 2016. The content consist of promoting their energy drink’s through images and videos, also their sponsorship with the NHL. AMP Energy does follow 50/50 rule, similar to their Facebook account they tweet about their product, and follow it up with a tweet about their sponsorship, or about an event.

Most Recent Popular Tweet:

  • 218 Re-Tweets

Although AMP Energy does not Tweet as frequently, the tweet that was the most popular of the last 25 tweets was the one that had to do with their sponsorship.  The reason for the success of this tweet I believe is because of the sponsorship with the NHL. AMP Energy now caters to hockey fans, so whenever the tweet something that is hockey related, it is possible it will receive many likes and shares.

Final Thoughts:

Rockstar Energy has a better social media presence on Twitter compared to AMP Energy. They tweet daily and get an average of 80 likes compared to AMP Energy who tweets sometimes once a month and will receive an average of 30 likes.
Next post, I will move on to YouTube, and see how these two brands do on that platform. I love to know your thoughts on this topic, share your comments below.
